From Mountains to Meeting Rooms

From Mountains to Meeting Rooms.

Earlier this week, someone asked, “Good weekend?”
A simple question, right?

It was an epic weekend in my eyes, but I hesitated.

I wanted to say how proud I was of my daughter. How good it felt to be out amongst it again as I get genuine withdrawal if I’m away from the mountains, forests, or lakes for too long.

Instead, I smiled and said, “Yes thanks, and you?”

I don’t usually write uber personal posts, but this one stuck with me.
It’s about grit, growth, and how those lessons cross over from life to work.

Before the weekend, I asked my daughter if she wanted to relax or go hiking — something we’ve done a few times before. She’s had to dig deep in tough conditions, and I’ve turned us back from summits when the risk outweighed the reward. The forecast looked dry but gusty, so I made it her call.

“Dada, where’s your usual sense of adventure?”
(She still calls me Dada. I’ll take that win.)

We set off for the Brecon Horseshoe Ridge. Within 600 metres of leaving the car — after a gloriously sunny, but cold start — hail and icy wind pelted us full in the face. Aha, classic British “dry and breezy” forecast.

I looked at her, ready to offer an out. Four hours in these conditions will be tough going, but before I could speak, she shouted defiantly into the storm,

“Is that all you’ve got!”

My chest bursting with pride, as those were my words from years ago when we’d been caught in bad weather.

Now, the gamer and late sleeper had turned into a storm warrior. She kept pushing — no moaning, no shortcuts, no turning back!

We are all aware that resilience isn’t built in comfort. The struggle and the triumph come as a package deal. X-Country running, rugby, marathons & hiking — all taught me the same thing. Endurance is as much mental as it is physical.

Work’s no different. The toughest projects are often the ones that shape us most, and we just need to re-frame the challenge in to a positive in our own minds.

Resilience is a muscle. You grow it by using it.

And in tech, it’s the same. AI and automation are brilliant tools, but they shouldn’t make us passive. They should challenge us and make us sharper.

And that’s my point...

You need discomfort to grow, but you don’t need built in chaos.

At LettsPay, we’ve built a system that removes the financial friction and chaos for letting agents.

No more downloading or importing bank statements just to start your day and no more manual reconciliations and disconnected BACS runs at the end of it.

It’s about amplifying your ability to thrive — and keeping you in control, every step of the way.

Become a Financial Storm Warrior.

Resilience is built through challenge, not chaos.

Imagine how much more you could achieve if you stopped battling unnecessary admin and started amplifying your strengths.

Smarter systems. Better control. Real results.

With LettsPay, you might just find yourself shouting into the Financial Storm, “Is that all you’ve got!”

Book your demo and see how much unnecessary discomfort traditional systems have been throwing at you.
